I'm a bit of Sofia Coppola-file.  I like her style, her films, and I especially like this photo of her bedroom.

I've always wanted a projector in the home to watch movies or to have screenings in the backyard.  We've had one successful screening of Blue Velvet.  I totally want to have more screening/parties.

january/february

I like the cold weather this time in Michigan.   Everyone is indoors, everything is covered in white and it is so serene.  Although this winter has been pretty mild so far.  I hope it stays like this since I am taking night classes and walking in snowy weather would suck.  Anyway, January and February  are reserved for catching up on all the best picture nominees before the Oscars.

last night we watched the tree of life.  i heard people not understanding this movie so i warned adam.

Instead Adam loved it and related to the characters. It was a beautiful, super arty, philosophical film and I didn't understand any of it. 

One thing I wanted to do after watching the film was to visit Texas.  The film was filmed in various small towns in Texas.  I've always wanted to visit Marfa and Austin. What about Barton Springs?

king's speech

On saturday we went to watch King's Speech. It was pretty interesting. Adam said it was a little boring. After the movie I was so fascinated with the British royal family. I wikipedia-ed everyone. :)

I am a huge Pride and Prejudice fan and was so excited to see some of the cast in the BBC version (Colin Firth-Mr. Darcy, Jennifer Ehle-Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Collins).

films to see

One of the things I miss about living in California are the movies that come into town. I have movies throughout the year I want to watch but the closest screenings are in New York. I hate those words, "now playing in limited theatres in Los Angeles and New York."

I hope I will have time to watch Black Swan when I am home in a few weeks. Looks scary.. 8.9 rating on imdb.

and Sofia Coppola's Somewhere.. I saw an interview of Sofia recently where she wrote the movie partly for being nostalgic about her hometown while living in Paris. I share her sentiment.

weekend

made a full english breakfast on saturday morning. the beans are curry flavored...
this is what i did friday night and saturday morning.. stamping, labeling, and addressing.
more stamping...
we had some friends over to watch greenberg (which was pretty awful) and i made a cheese plate. i guess serving doesn't equal to made? oh well.

summer movies

Lot's of movies I want to watch this summer... and since I can go to the movies by myself now. It feels like watching a dvd alone at home but better?



Adam and I are planning to watch Inception tonight. Can't wait!Kids are All right... The closest showing is at a theatre in a suburb near Detroit so maybe I have to wait for the dvd :(
Eat, Love, Pray. Looks good though I was never interested in the book... Not really into India and yoga and spirituality stuff.
I am kind of embarrassed to say that I kind of want to see Charlie St. Cloud. I am going to blame it on the constant trailer that keeps on playing during our television watching.

1. Pride and Prejudice (2005) I have seen this movie so many times and it is soo good everytime. I have also read the book many times because of it. Oh Jane Austen, I love you so.

2. The Notebook (2004) This movie makes me cry everytime. Like, my shirt gets soaked, tears streaming. He built her a wraparound porch!

3. 2 Days in Paris (2007) Love this movie. Not sure if this constitutes as a chick flick... because it is smart and Adam will watch it with me. The previous movies he will not. It takes place in my favorite city and the characters remind us of our relationship... the male is uptight (Adam) and the girl needs to comb her hair (me).

Every time I see the trailer it reminds me of the time I saw Stephen Dorff in Venice. He was driving a flashy silver sport's car and had a blond model with him. Hollywood!
