jane eyre

i have a bit of an obsession with classic novels by jane austen, charlotte bronte and the like. i read pride and prejudice about four times last summer. when i found out that jane eyre was going to come out this year, i decided to re-read the novel.

the last time i read jane eyre was in junior high.  i also remember watching the timothy dalton version in the same class and hating it (i'm a wuss and it was too spooky).

anyway, i finished reading the book at 3am on thursday and requested adam to take me to see jane eyre for my birthday. we drove an hour to saginaw to watch it. of course it was not as good as the book but i thought mia wasikowska and michael fassbender were brilliantly cast as jane and rochester.

michael fassbender is a total hottie as rochester. if adam and i get divorced, i'm totally going for a manly old guy. haha. maybe not since i'll be old too! can you believe michael fassbender is our age (born 1977) and dates zoe kravitz?

funny girl

Today my back was killing me so i sat on the couch and watched funny girl for the first time. didn't think i would like it as much i did. a)they sing, b)Barbra Streisand and those weird fingernails. adam saw bits of the movie and thought it was funny.

I purchased a DVD on amazon tonight. The movie is based on a real person- comedienne Fanny Brice and her husband who was a con-artist and professional gambler. She doesn't see what's wrong with him when everyone else does.  I would love to read a real biography on her.

post edit: adam did not like this movie and does not understand how i can watch it twice in a week.

satc

i've been gearing up for satc 2 (aiden) for awhile by re-watching satc dvds. i didn't like the first one but critics are saying that the first movie was good but this second one is not as good... if critics like the first movie, will i hate the new movie?



adam has also been reading some reviews and is curious about watching it. i think i will try to see it by myself... i'm scared!

friday night movie

we are going to watch a few "small town" movies tonight to better appreciate mount pleasant.
we don't live here anymore from a few years back. have you read andre dumas? i was obsessed with his short stories back in college. they did another movie called in the bedroom based on one of his stories.
beautiful girls from 1996. i watched it a long time ago.. not sure if i will like it still. rosie o'donell is one of the townies. maybe it will be too real since we live in a small town with real life townies who look at the oriental girl weird. haha

bright star

Mount Pleasant has a little international festival every year. I coaxed Adam to take me to see Bright Star last Saturday. It is about the poet John Keat's fiancee Fanny Braun and their ill-fated love affair. I was pretty much balling throughout the whole movie (knowing what happens to John Keats). Adam asked, "Is this porn for women?" I heard other people's sniffle's during the movie so maybe it really is "porn for women."

we watched hangover for the first time tonight. it was pretty funny. adam made chili. soo good.

i so want this dress so badly. maybe one day i will find the exact fabric and have someone make it for me. i think maybe i didn't like 5oo days of summer so much because it was too real for me. maybe i wanted a corny, happy ending..

where the wild things are

haven't seen a movie since we did the double feature (sneaking in thing).

really enjoyed the movie. adam thought it lingered a bit too long and did not understand it as well as i did. haha (don't take the young ones, might have nightmares..).
