yesterday we started our day at cafe 101. i read on yelp that everyone should try the sweet potato fries. i decided that i wanted fries with my salmon scramble. the fries were absolutely delish but the portion is a little large for two people. we took them to go and they were still edible the next day.


today i went to philippe's for some french dip sandwiches. we then walked around olvera street. it was pretty hot so we decided to catch a matinee. we drove by the vista and with perfect timing the movie i wanted to see was playing there.





across the universe is such a wonderful film. it warms the heart.

friday i drove down to orange for marisa's birthday shindig. we had dinner at gabbimex (www.gabbimex.com). they gave us tortilla chips and salsa before our entrees came out (they were so delicious we had 6 servings!). their signature drink is the pomegranate mojito (i had two) and it was just divine. we then headed out to O's for more drinks. I bought marisa her tradtional "the nastiest" birthday shot. We then headed to denny's to get some food in our system and to sober up. I started my trek home at about 230a in the pouring rain. super scary.

i drow to adam's the next morning to hang out. we had lunch at alegria on sunset. this place is really yummy. i also had their signature drink which is the coffee ollie. it is sweetened cinnamon flavored coffee and it was super tasty. that's the website for the menu:

i have this internal alarm clock that wakes me up every morning at 6a. i can go to sleep at 4a and i will wake up at 6a. i was soooo sleepy saturday after lunch i took a two hour nap. i woke up just in time for usc football. we ordered a pizza from nicky d's in atwater village and drank some beers. after the game we watched before sunrise and ate popcorn in our new bowl and drank wine.

my friend sachiko had her wedding this past weekend. she made such a beautiful bride! being in the wedding party was soo much fun but also a lot of work. it kind of made me want to elope.

so i made plans with adam to watch the usc v. berkeley game. yes. sayaka. watch four hours of college football. i went to adam's prepared (haruki murakami's sputnik sweetheart, two dresses to sew, my moleskin notebook filled with my thanksgiving list, french dictionary to pick up on a few new words).

i got to adam's late (because of usc traffic on the 110 fwy-jk because i was watching my mother croquette). we took a trip to trader joes to pick up on margarita pizza and sangria ingredients.


margarita pizza:
pizza dough (we bought wheat because it is much more indie rock than white dough)
basil
salt + pepper
mozzarella cheese
olive oil
tomatoes

preheat oven to 425 degrees F
bake dough for 5 minutes
take out crust from oven and add ingredients
bake for about 5-10 minutes

sangria:
one bottle of red wine
orange
peach
lemon
apples
one shot of brandy

attempting to cook was lots of fun. i just bossed mr. mock around and he did most of the preparing.

next margarita pizza making attempt i think we should just use a mediterenean flat bread or something of that sort for the crust. the crust was good but not thin enough for the margarita.


thanksgiving dinner should be lots of fun.

i love my trips to disneyland.. i woke up late at 6:45am ( i promised marisa that i would be at her place by 7:15) but ended up in fullerton at 7:30am. we hauled our butts to the park and made it inside by 8:30am. i wanted to get there before the park opened but a lot of other people ahd the same idea. the first ride we went on was space mountain (we walked straight on). i wish i had something to eat before hand, came out of the ride with a slight headache. this is marisa and i on space mountain (that was supposed to be a peace sign)

i also got mickey mouse pancakes for breakfast
